Refurbished Cricket Nets for the 2025/26 Season
Glenorie District Cricket Club Unveils Long-Awaited Net Facility Upgrade
After years of planning, fundraising, and tireless community effort, the Glenorie District Cricket Club (GDCC) has officially completed a major refurbishment of its cricket training nets, marking a significant milestone for the club and its members.
The project, which has been “years in the making,” was brought to life through a combination of community support, dedicated volunteer work, and key financial contributions. Central to its success was a community grant from the Cricket Australia Infrastructure Fund (CAIF), which provided crucial backing for the redevelopment.
GDCC representatives expressed deep gratitude for the generosity shown by local supporters, particularly acknowledging a substantial donation from Mary Beard. Additional support from Bendigo Bank also played an instrumental role in ensuring the project could be completed to a high standard.
“This upgrade simply wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support we’ve received,” a club spokesperson said. “From funding partners to local volunteers, it’s been a true community effort.”
The refurbishment delivers modernised training facilities that will benefit players of all ages and skill levels, helping the club continue to grow and develop cricket in the Glenorie region.
Behind the scenes, GDCC committee members dedicated countless hours over several years to bring the project to fruition. Their persistence and commitment were key in navigating the challenges of planning, funding, and delivery.
“This has been a long journey, and it’s a testament to the hard work and passion of our committee,” the spokesperson added. “We’re proud to finally see it completed and ready for our players to enjoy.”
The upgraded nets are expected to enhance training opportunities and strengthen the club’s position as a hub for community sport, ensuring a bright future for cricket in Glenorie.
